Our Engagement

The beginning part of 2012 was a bit hectic for Katie & Ed. In January Ed relocated from SF to NYC, in March Katie followed suit but left shortly after to do some traveling, in May they began their summer of subletting apartments around the city and most of their free time was spent with their families who are close by. In short, they hadn’t had a relaxing weekend alone in WAY too long. Missing their frequent trips to wine country in California they decided to plan a weekend away in the North Fork wine region in Long Island. Along the way Ed had filled her in on many details of what they were doing so she was very unsuspecting of this being anything more than a regular weekend trip away.  Katie had adamantly declared no one would ever be able to surprise her on the day of her engagement, Ed took this as a critical life challenge.

After checking into their B&B and going to some vineyards for wine tasting, they decided to head out to the beach down the road with some wine and cheese. Ed wanted to go watch the sunset but they accidently arrived 2 hours too early.  Ed had made Katie a playlist and about half way through Joshua Radin “Today” came on and he stood up. Katie was very confused until she noticed something in his hand. He asked her to marry him and she responded with a resounding “Of course!” (and Ed still teases her that she never actually said “Yes”)
