Groomsmen

Ed's groomsmen are either all male models who own the digital likeness to their photographs or are all too old to actually have ever posted a photograph to Facebook.  So we've taken some liberties and chosen the celebrity who best represents each of them.

Best Man:  Steve Parrinello

It all started on a fall day in 1st grade when Steve's Mom told Mrs. Liebowitz that "Ed is a good eater," after Ed devoured 3 bowls of Breyers ice cream and 14 bowls of tortellini soup.  The foundation butterscotch and toretllini laid led to a life long friendship between Steve and Ed.  From spending many nights on Conor's dock, working sidewalk sales in Greenwich, CT, being sounding boards for each other and sleeping together for 40 straight nights in Europe and Ed being known as Steve and Merri's "child" for a period of time, their friendship has endured.  Ed could not be happier to have Steve as his best man and knows that their friendship and support of each other will always be there.

Groomsman:  Jeremy Latimer

From the moment Ed met Jeremy he knew Jeremy would be the wise "old" man he could always turn to for advice.  Through sleeping in a parking lot in Ithaca, NY surrounded by cop cars, shaving the Kappa Sigma letters into their chest hair  for a greek week contest, making bets about GPAs that Ed would never win and Jeremy planting the "family heirloom," of a metal bell in his yard their friendship has grown stronger with each endeavor.  One moment stands out in Ed's mind from their friendship, after the first touchdown the Hobart offense scored with Ed as the starting center, he leapt into the air with Jeremy catching him with ease (Ed was about 250 lbs then...), that moment stands out in Ed's mind as a symbol of their friendship.

Groomsman:  Kevin Haggerty

A walk to Wegmans during the first week of their first pre-season camp at Hobart launched Kevin & Ed's friendship.  Kevin turned to Ed and said "Ed, I'm a .... man" and with that they were fast friends.  While Jeremy was the sudden star out of the trio Kevin and Ed played scout team offense their first year at Hobart, meaning they got to double team Hobart's all-league nose guard each day in practice.  Nothing creates lifelong friends like having to learn to block a 25 year-old college senior (who looked like a professional wrestler) when you're 18.  Since that summer Kevin and Ed have shared many stories, seasons of Madden, trips to Canada and answering Mr. Haggerty's famous question of "was it worth it?"  Without question Mr. Haggerty, it has been!

Groomsman:  Justin Spencer

The first time Ed met Justin it didn't go so well, at least from Justin's point of view.  Ed was being an over protective older brother who was meeting his sister's boyfriend for the first time.  Thankfully Ed and Justin overcame a rocky start to become brother-in-laws who developed an awesome friendship.  All this manifested itself when Ed got into a fight at Giant's stadium for Justin with a guy who jumped down three rows of seats just because Justin was wearing an Eagles jersey.  However, the bond only ran so deep, when Ed finished up his bouncer duties he found Justin a row lower with a 300 lbs man pinning him to the seat; Ed let Justin handle that one himself. Since then they've learned about IBUs, tried to decipher Ed's father's stories and have grown to think of each other as a brother (dropping the in-law).

Groomsman:  Matt Jacobs

Ed first learned of Matt through Katie when she mentioned she had a former boss who also lived  in San Francisco who was "into cycling."  Little did Ed know that Matt would be the only person he had ever ridden with who had the same desire to ride to the point of puking on every ride he went on.  As they ticked off miles together up Mt. Tam and in Napa Valley Ed and Matt developed a deep friendship built on a foundation of riding the pain train.  Matt has also meant a ton to Katie as a mentor, friend and wine aficionado.  Whether drinking wine with a "Jacob's funk," hammering out intervals, eating a16 meatballs or talking shop Matt became an amazing mutual friend for both Ed and Katie.  They say cycling together lets you bear your soul, so after hours of riding together Ed will always be happy to lend Matt a wheel on a flat just as Matt promises to always wait at the top of a climb for Ed.
